We have, in recent articles, been talking about the marketing opportunities that businesses need to act on to make the most of marketing trends for 2019 – and as experts in Augmented Reality, something we have been offering clients for some time, we couldn’t ignore the now growing trend towards A.R advertising.
It has traditionally been out of the reach of companies with smaller budgets, but recently Facebook announced that it was moving Augmented Reality ads out of Messenger and into the News Feed. This essentially means that even brands with much smaller marketing budgets should start thinking about how AR can fit into upcoming campaigns. In short A.R advertising is a reality your brand can’t ignore for 2019!
Obviously working with AR experts is the best way to do this, but we like our clients to be informed and understand how they, working in partnership with us, can get their AR advertising off the ground.
Do it now!
As a trend that is here to stay, smaller brands will be starting to climb on the bandwagon and so your window of opportunity to be one of the innovators is closing fast. Be one of the first to act and like most things on social media, if you’re there at the beginning you will be seen to be one of the ‘influencers.’
Snapchat is a good starting point
If the question is “where to start?” we suggest piggybacking on Snapchat. They gained huge visibility by being one of the first to adopt AR, and many marketing Gurus say if smaller brands want to test the market this is the place to start.
Where the cost of creating A.R has been prohibitive in the past, Snapchat has become more ‘self-serve’ which gives smaller players a cost-effective chance – and Facebook is expected to go this route as well shortly!
Don’t do ‘Wow’ just for now
There is a bit of a tendency for new players in the AR space to want to overuse the ‘wow’ factor, but there is nervousness amongst consumers about data breaches when trying out new mediums, so go for a long term approach and image.
AR is all about using innovative methods to tell the story of the brand, and you don’t need to do it with weird and wonderful stuff. Rather still be credible and tell a compelling story of a great brand, using the capabilities of AR to enhance the image.
Partner with the right people
There is much more to this business of AR advertising though, like for example finding ways to incorporate AR into existing platforms and ensuring that your AR offering adds real value for your customers – so it’s better to partner with experts when taking this initiative.
PACE digital has been in the Augmented and Virtual Reality space for some time already and has kept abreast of developing trends and marketing opportunities as they have evolved. That’s why we can confidently say A.R advertising is a reality your brand can’t ignore for 2019!
